Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jim Agnew
Drafted 157th overall in 1984 by Vancouver, Agnew's stock was worth about what this selection implied. After four seasons in the Western league, he proved to be a journeyman during his six-year NHL career, never playing a full season without demotion to the minors.

During his years with Brandon and Portland in the WHL, Agnew was named to the WHL's West division First All-Star team and after graduating was assigned by the Canucks to Fredericton of the AHL. He saw his first NHL action during the 1986-87 season, but in each season he was called up he was later demoted.

Agnew was the proverbial tough customer, but his game was greatly affected after he suffered a serious knee injury midway through the '89-'90 season in the IHL. He spent much of the next three years recovering, and the final blow came during an exhibition game on September 14, 1994 when he blew his knee out one final time and was forced to retire.
