Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Alexandre Boikov
Russian-born defenseman Alexandre Boikov played his Junior hockey in Canada in an effort to learn the North American game prior to his draft-eligibility. Boikov had stops in Victoria, Prince George and Tri-City during his time in the Western Hockey League. Just as his final Junior campaign drew to a close Boikov was offered a free agent contract by the San Jose Sharks.

In 1996-97 he began his professional career with the Sharks top farm club, the Kentucky Thoroughblades. For the next three seasons he honed his game in the American Hockey League then earned a new contract, this time from the Nashville Predators.

His first season in the Predator organization saw him play 58 games for the Milwaukee Admirals but also included his NHL debut.

On March 31 2000 Boikov suited up for a game versus the Vancouver Canucks. He played one more game that season and had just a single minor penalty to show for it. While the bulk of the following season was spent back with the Admirals, he did return to Nashville for eight more games and again provided toughness while racking up 13 more minutes in penalties.

The 2001-02 season saw Boikov spent his entire campaign in the minors.
