Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Greg Andrusak
Greg Andrusak was born November 14, 1969 in Cranbrook, British Columbia. The fifth round, 88th overall selection of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Andrusak is a graduate of the University of Minneosta-Duluth where he played for four years as a member of the Bulldogs.

In the ensuing years, though, he ended up playing with more teams in more leagues and countries than he ever could have imagined, starting with Canada's National team for all of 1990-91. He then played in the minors, and over the next three years was called up by the Penguins once a year, for three, seven, and two games.

Frustrated, Andrusk fled to Europe where he held a steady job for nearly three years before returning to Pittsburgh, but again for just seven games. He became a free agent, signed with Toronto, and has remained a bit part in the NHL scheme of things.

Once considered an offensively talented player who had to work on his defence, but he has failed to score even one NHL goal to date. He did win a bronze medal with Canada's World Championships team in 1995, but beyond that his career has been without flare.

The Cranbrook, B.C. native joined the AHL's Kentucky Thoroughblades in 2000-01 following his one year stint with Toronto. After only one season in Kentucky, Andrusak decided to return overseas, where for the second time in his career suited up for the Berlin Capitals.

As of the 2002-03 season, Andrusak remains in Europe and is now a member of the DEL's Hamburg Freezers.
