In 1986-87, Labelle played for the Hull Olympiques of the QMJHL before being traded to the Victoriaville Tigers where he would play three seasons (1987-88-1989-90) In 1990-91 he played for two teams, the Fredericton Canadians (AHL) and the Richmond Renegades (ECHL) before being signed as a free agent by Montreal. He would never play a single game for the NHL club but did return to their farm club the Fredericton Canadians for a season. Once being claimed off waivers by the Ottawa Senators in 1992 he went straight to their farm team in the AHL, the New Haven Senators. In that same season he also played in the IHL with the San Diego Gulls and the CoIHL with the Thunder Bay Thunder Hawks. In 1993, during the expansion draft, the Florida Panthers claimed Labelle. He played that season and the next two seasons in the IHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones. In 1995-96, while playing with the Cyclones he was traded to the Milwaukee Admirals.

In 1996, Labelle was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Stars of the NHL and finally played in the NHL when he played nine games with the Stars. During which time he recorded no points but had 46 penalty minutes.

Never returning to the NHL following his short stint in Dallas he played in the IHL with the Milwaukee Admirals before being traded to the Michigan K wings in 1996-97. In 1997-98, he again bounced from different teams, playing for the Lachute Rapids of the QSPHL and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the IHL.

Labelle would go on to play in the WPHL for the El Paso Buzzards in 1998-99 as a player/associate coach and would he missed most of the 1999/00 season due to a hand injury he suffered during a game.

Labelle was signed as a free agent by Montreal in 1991 and Ottawa in 1992. He then was claimed by Florida from Ottawa in the Expansion draft in 1994. In 1996 He was signed by Dallas as a free agent.
