Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Darren Langdon
A native of Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Darren Langdon excelled for Summerside, P.E.I. in the MJrHL in 1991-92. He was not approached by any NHL teams so he split the next season with the ECHL's Dayton Bombers and the AHL's Binghamton Rangers. In August 1993, he signed as a free agent with the New York Rangers and became an enforcer with the team's AHL affiliate in Binghamton.

The rugged forward was recalled for 18 games during the 1994-95 season to inject life into the struggling club. He was a regular for the next four seasons playing sound defensive hockey and battling hard for every inch of ice. In August 2000, he was acquired by the Carolina Hurricanes for tough guy Sandy McCarthy.

Upon his arrival in Carolina, Langdon continued to play hard and never backed down from the opposition. He went on to play parts of three seasons in Carolina before being acquired by the Vancouver Canucks early in 2002-03 season. Langdon's stay in Vancouver lasted one season before he moved on to Montreal and then New Jersey in the summer of 2004.
