Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Adam Bennett
Defenseman Adam Bennett was born in Georgetown, Ontario on March 30, 1970 and enjoyed a solid junior career with the Sudbury Wolves, capped by a 1991 Second All-Star Team selection. The Chicago Blackhawks made Bennett their first choice, sixth overall, in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, and he began his professional career right after his final junior season ended, playing three games with the Indianapolis Ice of the IHL.

The following season, Bennett made his NHL debut, suiting up for five games with the Chicago Blackhawks without registering a point. He spent the rest of his season tuning his game back in Indianapolis. Bennett also split the next the 1992-93 campaign between the Hawks and the Ice, this time getting a longer NHL look. He played 16-games for the 'Hawks, registering two assists and eight penalty minutes.

Even though he made great strides in the minors that season, upping his point output by ten despite playing twenty fewer games the previous year, Bennett found himself out of the Blackhawks plans for the 1993-94 season. After failing to dress for the Hawks season opener versus the expansion Florida Panthers, Bennett was dealt the next day to the Edmonton Oilers for center Kevin Todd.

On a crowded Oilers blue line that saw eleven different players suit up to play defence, Bennett got into a career-high 48 contests, notching his only three NHL goals and nine points.

Bennett's season with the Oilers would prove to be the highlight of his career. The following year Bennett was limited to just ten games, all of them in the AHL with the Cape Breton Oilers. His final season of pro hockey came the next year, 1994-95, when he played just five games with the Richmond Renegades of the East Coast Hockey League.
