Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brad Berry
Defenceman Brad Berry provided depth for two different franchises in an NHL career that spanned eight seasons. He was a solid physical player in his own end who could also move the puck out of his own zone efficiently.

Berry was a top two-way blueliner on the St. Albert Saints of the AJHL. After he was chosen 29th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 1983, the young rearguard accepted a hockey scholarship to the University of North Dakota. He was a stalwart of the Fighting Sioux defense for three years and was a member of Team Canada when they won the gold medal at the 1985 World Junior Championships.

Following his third year at North Dakota, Berry joined the Jets for the last 13 games of the regular season as well as three playoff matches. Berry was the sixth or seventh defenceman on Winnipeg for three years but lost his place on the roster by the early stages of the 1989-90 season. He spent the 1990-91 season in Sweden with Brynas IF Gavle before returning to North America.

Berry was signed as a free agent by the Minnesota North Stars prior to the 1991-92 season but he logged most of his time in the IHL. The next year he played 63 games and was a solid member of Bob Gainey's close-checking squad. Berry remained with the franchise when it relocated to Dallas but spent most of his last five years as a pro in the minors before retiring in 1998.
