Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Denny Lambert
Left-winger Denny Lambert carved a niche for himself in the NHL through rugged play and a tireless work ethic. Although he was not blessed with an abundance of natural skill, he often outworked an opponent during battles for the puck along the boards and space in front of the net.

Lambert was a hard-nosed grinder who found the back of the net 65 times in three years with the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Undrafted and unsigned, he spent the bulk of his first two pro seasons with the San Diego Gulls of the IHL along with a brief stay in the COHL with St. Thomas. In August 1993, Lambert was signed by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as they prepared for their inaugural season. He returned to San Diego then played the last 13 games of the 1995 season with the Ducks.

The fiery winger split the 1995-96 season between Anaheim and the AHL's Baltimore Bandits. After signing as a free agent with the Ottawa Senators in July 1996, Lambert played a regular shift for two seasons as the club became one of the best in the NHL. He was claimed by the Nashville Predators at the 1998-99 Expansion Draft and was a gritty leader on the competitive squad. The next summer, he joined the Expansion Atlanta Thrashers in a trade where he was a popular and energetic worker for two years.

Lambert was back in Anaheim in 2001-02 before joining the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals for the 2002-03 season.
