Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Rob Cowie
Defenseman Rob Cowie played for the St. Michael's Buzzers then moved on to four years Northeastern University where he was a three-time All Star which led to a free agent contract with the Winnipeg Jets. Cowie, who was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 3rd, 1967, never suited up for the Jets instead honing his game in the American Hockey League. He then inked a deal with the Hartford Whalers, but, again, it led to only minor league exposure. The third time was the charm for Cowie. When he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Kings in 1994, he finally earned his chance.

Cowie played 32 games on the Kings blueline and scored 2 goals and 7 assists in that time. He also had a very productive season that year in the AHL where he scored 14 goals and 47 points in 51 games. The following year Cowie upped his games-played to 46 and responded with five goals and 10 points. At seasons end, Cowie ended the NHL part of his career and moved on to a new phase.

The 1996-97 season was spent in Switzerland then he moved on to Germany where he spent the next four years with the Berlin Polar Bears.
