Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gilbert Delorme
The Montreal Canadiens in the 1981 Entry Draft selected Gilbert Delorme in the first round, 18th overall.

Delorme played three junior hockey seasons with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL. As a 16-year-old, Delorme appeared in 72 games, scoring 13 goals and 47 assists for 60 points. It was his second year in the league which drew the attention of the NHL central scouting bureau when he had 25 goals and 86 assists for 111 points in 71 games. He followed that up with a 27-goal season and 106 points in 1980-81.

In 1981-82, Delorme dressed for 60 games with the Montreal Canadiens, scoring three goals and eight assists. His second year in the league would be his most prolific, where, in 78 games, he scored 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points. However, the Canadiens were ousted from the playoffs in the opening round, but that was an improvement on the previous year, when they failed to reach the post-season.

Midway through the 1983-84 season, Delorme was traded to the St. Louis Blues where he played for a season-and-a-half. He then spent a similar amount of time in Quebec with the Nordiques before moving to Detroit midway through the 1986-87 campaign. Delorme lasted slightly longer there, hanging in for about two-and-a-half years, but the label "journeyman" was certainly relevant.

Delorme's last NHL stop was with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1989-90. In 54 games he had three goals and seven assists playing with fellow Quebecker Mario Lemieux. His final stats read 541 games played, 31 goals, 92 assists and 123 points with 520 minutes in penalties.
