Greg Kuznik was born June 12, 1978 in Prince George, B.C. The seventh round, 171st overall selection of the Hartford Whalers in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Kuznik is a graduate of the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds.
A stay-at-home defenceman, Kuznik played three seasons in Seattle before making his professional debut in 1998-99, splitting his season with the ECHL's Florida Everblades and the AHL's New Haven Beast. In 1999-00, Kuznik split his season between the IHL's Cincinnati Cyclones and ECHL's Dayton Bombers and a second stint with the Everblades before making his NHL debut with the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2000-01 season. A durable and dependable player with Cincinnati in 2000-01, Kuznik strong play in the minors earned his first NHL game with the Hurricanes that year.
In 2001-02, Kuznik joined the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters and would return to Lowell in 2002-03.
