Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Corey Foster
Defenceman Corey Foster was a fine playmaker with a blistering shot who played briefly with four NHL clubs. He was a big point producer in junior and the minors who ended up finishing his career in Japan. Although he was a fine offensive player, NHL officials were always disappointed that he didn't play more physically for somebody who stood 6'3" and weighed 200lbs.

The native of Ottawa, Ontario was a junior standout with the OHL's Peterborough Petes for three seasons. In 1988 Foster was chosen 12th overall by the New Jersey Devils then returned to the Petes for one last season. He scored 56 points in 55 games and helped Peterborough reach the 1989 Memorial Cup tournament. That year he represented Canada at the World Junior Championships but the team disappointed with a fourth place finish.

Foster played a pair of games for the Devils in 1988-89 then was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. His time in the Oilers' organization was spent in the AHL but, after a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers, he played 25 games in 1991-92. Foster was a consistent offensive threat in the AHL and recorded a personal high 21 goals in 1993-94. He played a few games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders but was predominantly a minor leaguer. He ventured across the Pacific in 1997-98 to suit up for the Kokudo Bunnies of Tokyo.
