Left-winger Daniel Gauthier played five games for the Chicago Blackhawks in 1994-95. He was an explosive scorer in junior and the minors and also attained success in Europe.
Born in Charlemagne, Quebec, Gauthier played junior in the QMJHL with the Longueuil Chevaliers and the Victoriaville Tigres. He was chosen 62nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988 after notching his first of three straight 40-goal season for the Tigres.
In 1990-91 Gauthier began his pro career with IHL's short-lived Albany Choppers franchise. He moved on to the Knoxville Cherokees and ended up being named the ECHL's top rookie and first-team all-star after registering a league high 93 assists in 61 games. He continued to be a top offensive performer in the "I" over the next five years before signing with Austria's VEU Feldkirch in 1996-97. Gauthier also competed for Germany's Frankfurt Lions and Wedemark Scorpions and SC Langnau of the Swiss Elite League before retiring in 2000.
