Left-winger Steve Graves played parts of three seasons with the powerful Edmonton Oilers in the 80s. He was a fine goal scorer with good vision all over the ice who ended up enjoying a fine career in Europe.

Born in Trenton, Ontario, Graves played junior B with the Ottawa Senators then scored 74 goals in three seasons with the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He was chosen 41st overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 1982 then returned for two more years of junior. In 1984 he was named to the OHL third all-star team after scoring 41 goals for the Soo. He spent most of his first four seasons as a pro in the AHL with the occasional recall to the NHL.

In 1988-89, Graves joined TPS Turku of Finland then spent a year with the Canadian national team. The veteran forward returned to North America after signing as a free agent with the LA Kings but spent most of the 1990-91 season with the IHL's Phoenix Roadrunners. Graves retired after playing 12 games for HC Asiago of Italy in 1991-92.
