Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Joe Hulbig
Left-winger Joe Hulbig hoped to resume his pro career after suffering a head injury early in the 2000-01 season. A fine two-way player in high school and college, he spent most of his time in the minors since turning pro in 1996-97.

Born in Norwood, Massachusetts, Hulbig, was drafted 13th overall by the Edmonton Oilers after starring with St. Sebastian's high school. He then spent four years at Providence College before playing six games in both the regular season and playoffs for Edmonton in 1996-97. Over his first three pro seasons, Hulbig went up and down his wing with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL and received the occasional call to the AHL.

In July, 1999, Hulbig was signed as a free agent by the Boston Bruins. He spent most of his first two seasons in the minors but was with the parent club on November 9, 2000 when he suffered a career-threatening head injury.
