Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Cale Hulse
Cale Hulse was drafted 66th overall in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils. He played Junior A hockey with the Calgary Royals before he joined the WHL's Portland Winter Hawks in 1991-92. In his rookie season, Hulse scored 22 points and in 1992-93, he tallied 36 points.

After spending three seasons in the AHL, Hulse made his NHL debut during the 1995-96 season against the Montreal Canadiens. However, after only eight games with the Devils, he was traded to the Calgary Flames. He played three games with the Flames while suiting up also for the team's AHL affiliate in Saint John. In 1996-97, Hulse joined the Flames full time and scored seven points in 63 games. He scored his first NHL goal on March 29 against the Vancouver Canucks Kirk McLean and in 1997-98, improved to 22 assists and 27 points.

In 1999-00, Hulse was limited to just 47 games, due to injuries. Two games after suffering an ankle injury in a match against the Sharks, he was traded on March 14 with a third-round draft pick to the Nashville Predators for Sergei Krivokrasov. In 2000-01, Hulse played all 82 games with the Predators, scoring a goal and eight points and continues to be a work horse on the Nashville blueline.

After three seasons in Nashville, the Phoenix Coyotes acquired the former WHL grad in the summer of 2003. Hulse went on to play one season with the Coyotes before being acquired by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the early stages of the 2005-06 sesaon. Unfortunately, for Hulse his stay with the Blue Jackets didn't last a season, as he was re-aquired by the Calgary Flames in the latter stages of the season.
