Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dave Duerden
Left-winger Dave Duerden didn't get much recognition for his solid Junior career spent with the Peterborough Petes and when he joined the Florida Panthers organization in 1997 they didn't really have a place for him.

His rookie pro season saw him make stops in United, International and American Hockey Leagues and he struggled to find the net at all levels. Duerden's scoring woes followed him the next season when he produced just 17 points in 36 AHL games and ended up spending some time in the East Coast League.

During his third pro season Duerden's scoring touch finally returned when he fired home 25 goals and 28 assists for the Louisville Panthers. His solid coming out season earned him a brief promotion to the big club.

Duerden was sent a plane ticket by the Florida Panthers, but after just two scoreless games, it proved to be a round trip fare.

In 2000-01 he scored 25 goals for the second straight season, but his assist total dropped from 38 to 25. After the season the Panthers decided that Duerden didn't fit into their plans and he was traded to the New York Rangers for future considerations.

The Rangers didn't feel Duerden was a fit for their top affiliate and instead assigned him to the ECHL's Charolotte Checkers where he led the team in scoring by notching 31 goals and 78 points in 68 games.
