Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- David Mackey
David Mackey was a utility left-winger for parts of six seasons in the 1980s and '90s. He carved a clearer identity as a scrappy forward who could score in junior and the minor leagues.

Born in Richmond, B.C., Mackey was chosen 224th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks in 1984 after he enjoyed a solid year with the Victoria Cougars of the WHL. He returned to junior then played his rookie pro season with the Saginaw Generals of the IHL in 1986-87.

Mackey played 23 games for Chicago as a rookie in 1987-88 but saw more game action in the IHL over the next two years. He continued the same pattern in Minnesota and St. Louis where he logged a few minutes each game going up and down his wing. Mackey spent his last four and a half years as a pro in the IHL before retiring in 1998.
