Pat MacLeod was an offensive-minded defenseman who played briefly with three NHL teams in the 90s. He earned more than his share of assists in junior, the minors and Europe.

Norn in Melfort, Saskatchewan, MacLeod was chosen 87th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in 1989 after accumulating 91 points in two seasons with the Kamloops Chiefs of the WHL. That year he was also named to the WHL west second all-star team. During his first two pro seasons he provided an offensive boost to the IHL's Kalamazoo Wings and made it into one NHL game with the Stars in 1990-91.

In May, 1991 the young blueliner was claimed by the San Jose Sharks in the Dispersal Draft. He notched 16 points in 37 games for the expansion club and spent the rest of his time with the IHL's Kansas City Blades. Following the 1991-92 season he was named to the IHL second all-star team after helping the Blades win the Turner Cup. MacLeod battled injuries and consistency the next year then enjoyed two excellent seasons on the Milwaukee Admirals. In 1994 he was named to the IHL first all-star team after registering 21 goals and 73 points for Milwaukee.

Prior to the 1995-96 season, MacLeod signed with the Dallas Stars. He played a couple of games for the club but saw most of his ice time with the Michigan K-Wings of the IHL. The following season he played for Sweden's Farjestads before returning to North America to compete for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the "I". In 1997-98, Macleod was at his playmaking best with 55 points in 78 games for
Cincy. He played two more years in the minors before retiring in 2000.
