Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dave Marcinyshyn
Defenseman David Marcinyshyn played briefly with three NHL teams in the early 90s. His game was based on utilizing his 6'3", 210lb. body to tie up opposing forwards. He also demonstrated an ability to make passes and occasionally play the point on the power play in junior and the minors.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Marcinyshyn was an imposing force on the AJHL's Fort Saskatchewan Traders in 1984-85 where he recorded 52 points and 311 penalty minutes. He then spent two years with the WHL's Kamloops Blazers and signed with the New Jersey Devils in September, 1986.

The rugged blueliner spent his first three pro seasons with the AHL's Utica Devils then saw action briefly with the parent club in 1990-91. He was eventually returned to Utica to finish out the season. In June, 1991 he was traded to the Quebec Nordiques where he played five games and scored a career high ten goals on the Halifax Citadels of the AHL. After coming to terms with the New York Rangers in August, 1992, he played his last two NHL games and spent the bulk of the schedule with the AHL's Binghampton Rangers. Marcinyshyn retired in 1995 after playing a year in the IHL with the Milwaukee Admirals and Kalamazoo K-Wings.
