Defenceman Jayson More played nearly 400 games in the 1980s and '90s. He was a top amateur prospect who settled into a role as a steady positional blueliner with six different teams.
Born in Souris, Manitoba, More was chosen 10th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1987 Entry Draft while he was in the middle of a excellent junior career with the WHL's Lethbridge Broncos and New Westminster Bruins. He spent most of his early pro years in the minors but received a new lease on life after being claimed by the San Jose Sharks in the 1991 Expansion Draft.
More provided grit and defensive stability on the young club in its first two seasons. In 1993-94, he was a major factor in the club's rise to respectability and its first round upset of the Detroit Red Wings. More was also on hand when the Sharks knocked off the Calgary Flames to reach the Western Conference semi-finals in 1995. After leaving the Sharks, More provided defensive experience for the New York Rangers, Phoenix Coyotes, and Chicago Black Hawks before retiring in 1998.
