Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Pat Neaton
Defenceman Pat Neaton played nine games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1993-94. He was a fine offensive player but did not have the defensive game required for long term service in the NHL.

Born in Redford, Michigan, Neaton played four years at the University of Michigan where he rushed with the puck and pinched in at the blueline on a regular basis. In 1990 he was selected 145th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the NHL Entry Draft. Neaton was also named to the CCHA second all-star team in 1991 and the first team two years later.

The young rearguard played briefly with the club in 1993-94 then scored 32 points for the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks. Following the season he scored two goals for the United States team that finished fourth at the World Championships. Neaton was a solid offensive force for the IHL's San Diego Gulls in 1994-95 then played with the sixth-place US at the World Championships. Neaton went on to play three seasons with the Orlando Solar Bears of the IHL where he keyed the club's powerplay and transition game before retiring in 1998.
