Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Peter Popovic
Peter Popovic was one of those gigantic defenseman that could fall down in his own zone and still cover as much ice as two little defenders still on their skates. He was never flashy on the skill front, but he was always useful at bottling up the perimeter of his own crease.

Although drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1988, Popovic remained with Vasteras IK in Sweden until 1993. He then finally relented to join the Habs where he remained for parts of five seasons as a stay-at-home defender with a long reach. He enjoyed the city and the club, but was traded to the New York Rangers in 1998 as the result of a salary dispute.

Once on the move, Popovic made it an annual affair, spending just one year on Broadway before joining the Penguins in 1999-2000 and finally, the Bruins in 2000-01
