Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Johan Lindbom
Left-winger Johan Lindbom played 38 games for the New York Rangers in 1997-98. Blessed with plenty of offensive flair, he spent most of his pro career in his native Sweden where he was more comfortable on the larger ice surface.

Born in Alvesta, Sweden, Lindbom came up through Division 2 clubs Tyngsryd and Troja-Ljungby. In 1994-95 he joined HV Jonkoping and quickly became a key contributor on offense. The Rangers picked the young winger 134th overall in 1997 after he notched 20 goals for Jonkoping.

Lindbom joined New York in 1997 but was unable to get open on a consistent basis. The tight checking and smaller ice surface in the NHL proved to be a major impediment to him making a significant contribution. He returned to Jonkoping in 1998-99 and played two years before retiring in 2000.
