Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brad Norton
Brad Norton was born February 13, 1975 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The ninth round, 215th overall selection of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Norton is a graduate of UMass-Amherst.

A hulking defenseman, Norton played four seasons at UMass-Amherst, before making his professional debut in the latter stages of the 1997-98 season with the IHLs Detroit Vipers.

In 1998-99, Norton played his first full professional season with the Oilers AHL affiliate in Hamilton and went to play three seasons with the club before signing as a free-agent with the Florida Panthers in the summer of 2001. Upon his arrival with Florida, Norton saw action in 22 games with the NHL club, while spending most of his time with the AHL's Hershey Bears.

After only one season with the Panthers organization, Norton signed with the Los Angeles Kings in the summer of 2002, and went on to play parts of two seasons with the club before being acquired by the Washington Capitals during the 2003-04 season.

After 16 games with the Capitals, Norton was signed by the Ottawa Senators where he spent the majority of the season with the club's AHL affiliate in Binghamton. In the summer of 2006 Norton signed with the Red Wings where he would appear in a handful of games with the club, but spend most of his time with the club's AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids. After his season in Grand Rapids, the Sharks opted to sign Norton as a free agent in the summer of 2007.
