Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Greg Smyth
Greg Smyth was the Flyers' first choice in the 1984 Entry Draft from the London Knights out of the OHL. He played in London for three seasons and was named to the OHL's second all-star team in his last season as a junior in 1986. Smyth made his NHL debut in the 1986-87 season but spent the majority of the year with the AHL's Hershey Bears.

The next season saw Smyth split playing time with both Philly and Hershey, until he was traded to the Nordiques in 1988. While in Quebec, Smyth was up and down from the minors to the NHL until being dealt to the Flames in 1992.

The 1993-94 season saw Smyth change teams three times, first signing as a free agent with the Panthers, then being traded to the Leafs in December of '93, and finally being claimed off waivers by the Blackhawks a month later. After a season in the minors, Smyth signed with the Leafs as a free agent in 1996 but played in only two games and spending the majority of the season with the AHL's St. John's Maple Leafs.

After two more seasons with the Leafs' AHL team, Smyth moved across the pond to play in the British Ice Hockey Superleague in 1999-2000 and then then retired from the game.
