Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brent Thompson
Brent Thompson was a rugged defenceman for six NHL teams. He was most effective when playing a simple game of taking the man and banging the puck off the glass and out of his zone.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Thompson played junior with the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers. He was selected 39th overall by the L.A. Kings at the 1989 Entry Draft then returned to junior. The young blueliner enjoyed his best year when he scored 45 points in 1990-91 and was named to the WHL East second all-star team.

Thompson split his first three pro seasons between the Kings and the IHL's Phoenix Roadrunners. In August 1994, he joined the Winnipeg Jets and played 29 games for the club when the season resumed after the owner's lockout in 1995. He remained with the franchise when it relocated to Phoenix in 1996 but was strictly a minor leaguer between 1997 and 2001.
