Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Josh Green
Born in Camrose, Alberta, Josh Green played with the local Kodiaks of the AAHA before joining the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL in 1993-94. Taken 30th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Green returned to junior where he played for the Tigers, Swift Current Broncos and Portland Winter Hawks. Part way through the 1997-98 season he joined the AHL's Frederiction Canadiens and scored 16 goals in 43 games.

The young forward played 27 games as a rookie for the Kings in 1998-99 but was dispatched to the minors before the end of the season. Following the season he was part of a multi-player deal with the New York Islanders that was centred around star scorer Ziggy Palffy. Green scored 12 goals in 49 games for the Isles but was sent to the Oilers in June, 2000 as part of the package for defenseman Roman Hamrlik.

Injuries plagued Green's season in 2000-01 and he looked for a fresh start the following year. After a mediocore season offensively, Green was dealt to the New York Rangers after only 20 games with the Oilers in 2002-03 and subsequently played only four games with the Rangers before he was acquired by the Washington Capitals.

In the summer of 2003, Green joined his six NHL team when he was acquired by the Calgary Flames. Upon his arrival with the Flames, Green went on to play 36 games with the club before being claimed on Waivers by the Rangers in the latter stages of the 2003-04 season.

During the lock out season of 2004-05, Green suited up for the AHL's Manitoba Moose and in the summer of 2005 signed with the Vancouver Canucks. By the 2006-07 season, Green appeared in 55 games with the Cancuks and became a regular in the team's line-up. However the following off-season the Camrose, Alberta native was not re-signed by the Cancuks and he opted to sign with the Austrian Hockey League.

As a member of Salzburger EC, Green was just less than a point a game player through 43 games. He returned to North America and the NHL in the summer of 2008 when he signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
