Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dave Allison
Unfortunately for Allison, he was signed as a free agent by Montreal in 1979 when the team was in the middle of winning four Stanley Cups in a row. Chances of him making the lineup were slim to none, and he spent the better part of six years with the farm team in Nova Scotia. His rights were acquired by the Rangers and later traded to Toronto, but he played for neither team.

Dave and his brother once practiced together when Dave was with the Habs for those few games, and the two were together again briefly when Mike was traded to the Leafs and Dave was a walk-on in training camp hoping to make a good impression.

After retiring, Dave became coach of the P.E.I. Senators, Ottawa's farm team of the AHL, and was made head coach for 25 games during the 1995-96 season. The time with Ottawa was a disaster, however, as the horrible Sens had a record of 2-22-1 under Allison.
