Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jim Anderson
Here was a lifetime member of the minors who had played so long in the WHL and AHL that his hopes of ever skating in the NHL had long since evaporated. It was only because of expansion in 1967 when the league doubled to 12 teams that he got his chance after 15 years in the minors to play with the Los Angeles Kings at the age of 37.

Anderson not only survived Eddie Shore in Springfield, he thrived on the curmudgeonly ways of the Hall of Famer. In all, he played 16 years with the Indians, leading the AHL in goal scoring twice, with 43 in 1960-61 and 40 in 1963-64. He won the Red Garrett award as the league's rookie back in 1954-55.

But after just seven games, he returned to Springfield where he finished his career, retiring in 1970.
