Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Reid Bailey
Offensively, Bailey was known for his screening of opposing goalies more than his glorious goals or playmaking. For the early part of his career he was a favorite of Bob McCammon, who brought Bailey with him when he switched jobs from the Port Huron Flags in the IHL to the Maine Mariners, the Flyers farm team in the AHL.

Bailey had played for three teams in a single season in the QMJHL in 1975-76 and signed with Port Huron as a free agent when no team or league higher than the IHL expressed an interest in him. But after two seasons, and on McCammon's support, the Flyers signed him and placed Bailey with their farm team in Maine.

Although he played the rest of his career primarily in the minors, Bailey was called up in each of the next four years, first with Philadelphia, then Toronto and later Hartford, each of which team had acquired his services for the proverbial added toughness. Bailey had just one goal and 105 penalty minutes in 40 career NHL games and retired in 1984.
