Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ken Baird
As a junior with his hometown Flin Flon Bombers in 1970-71, Baird amassed 211 penalty minutes. His physical play interested general managers in both the NHL and the WHA. He was the California Golden Seals first pick in the 1971 amateur draft and spent one year with the team and its affiliates.

In 1972 he was one of the rare talented youngsters to jump to the WHA when the Alberta Oilers selected him. He spent four years with the team that became the Edmonton Oilers and then had brief stops in Calgary and Winnipeg before ending his career with Duisburg in Germany.
