Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Norm Barnes
The Philadelphia Flyers had been watching Barnes since before 1973 when they drafted him after his second year at Michigan State. Three years later, they got him into a single game and it was another three years before he was recalled a second time.

By this time, the Flyers had almost given up on Barnes, but he had a strong camp in 1979. He became the team's steadiest defenceman during its record-setting 35-game winning streak and played in the all-star game that year. The following year he was sent to Hartford, and after two partial years with the Whalers he retired.
