Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Serge Beaudoin
Serge Beaudoin once earned himself a suspension for manhandling Kerry Fraser, the referee who earned his revenge by lasting considerably longer in the NHL than the shortlived Atlanta Flame defender. The incident occured in 1980 during a CHL game involving Beaudoin's Birmingham Bulls. A few reports have Beaudoin punching Fraser in an attempt to get at the Houston Apollos Mike McCann, but most say Beaudoin lifted Fraser up and tossed him aside. Beaudoin was similarly tossed by the Bulls soon after and ended his hockey career, which consisted primarily of time logged in the WHA.

He was drafted by Philadelphia in 1972 because of his fighting abilities, but almost all of his career was spent in the WHA where he played for a number of teams over a period of years. When the two leagues merged, he was out of a job until the Atlanta Flmes signed him as a free agent. But in three games, Beaudoin didn't impress the right people in the right ways and he was back in the minors, with Birmingham in the Central league, where he retired in 1981.
