Bob Bergloff was taken in the sixth round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft, 87th overall by the Minnesota North Stars. At 18 he played with the Bloomington Junior Stars, the city that housed the NHL's North Stars.

In 1977-78 Bergloff enrolled at the University of Minnesota. He did not play in his freshman year, concentrating on his studies. His best year statistically was his junior season when he had nine goals and 31 points.

Bergloff turned pro in 1981-82, playing with the Nashville South Stars of the CHL and the Toledo Goaldiggers of the IHL. He played the only two games of his NHL career with the North Stars in 1982-83 where the highlight was his one fighting major.

Bergloff played two years in the minors with Salt Lake City and one with New Haven before spending a season in Great Britain, playing for the Dundee Tigers, retiring from hockey after the 1987-88 season.
