Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dwight Bialowas
Defenseman Dwight Bialowas played his major junior hockey with the Regina Pats and in 1972 was selected 18th overall by the Atlanta Flames in the NHL Amateur Draft.

Throughout his career Bialowas showed glimpses of offensive capabilities but he was primarily known for his defensive skills, which was the main reason the Flames chose him in the draft. He spent his first pro season in the minors with Omaha before joining the Flames in 1973-74 when he played eleven games in the NHL. His roommate on the road was Tom Lysiak, which worked out well for both of them as each was a big fan of singer Gordon Lightfoot. The next year he was in the lineup for 37 games where he had three goals and 12 points before being traded to the Minnesota North Stars in January, 1975 with Dean Talafous for Barry Gibbs.

Bialowas played another 76 games in a North Stars uniform over the next two seasons and played out the remainder of his hockey career in the minors retiring after the 1977-78 season as a member of the Fort Worth Texans of the CHL.
