Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gilles Bilodeau
Gilles Bilodeau began skating at the age of five and always seemed to like playing an aggressive style from a young age. He played one year of major junior hockey in Quebec where he gained the most notoriety for his 377 minutes in penalties with the Sorel Eperviers. A concern from NHL scouts was his ability to maintain discipline when needed. His low point total of 15 was not overly inviting for any clubs, so he was overlooked in the 1975 NHL Draft. However, Bilodeau was selected by the Toronto Toros in the WHA Amateur Draft and played 14 games with the team that year.

Bilodeau moved with the franchise when it left Toronto and was renamed the Bulls. In 1978 he was given the opportunity to return to his home province when the Quebec Nordiques offered him a deal, which he gladly accepted. The Nords retained his rights when they joined the NHL in 1979-80 following the collapse of the WHA. He played a total of nine NHL games, picking up one assist.
