Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ron Boehm
What he lacked in physical size, Ron Boehm made up for in quickness on the ice. At just 5'8" and 160 pounds it was a necessary quality for self-preservation playing against much bigger opponents. He played his junior hockey with the Estevan Bruins and in 1963 and 1964 helped the club to advance to the Memorial Cup. He was also loaned to the defending Memorial Cup champion Edmonton Oil Kings in the 1964 tournament, but the club was unable to repeat with the OHA's Toronto Marlboros taking the title that year.

At the age of 21 Boehm turned pro with the Minneapolis Bruins of the CPHL. He then spent a year with the Minnesota Rangers before moving on to the Vancouver Canucks of the WHL. With NHL expansion in 1967-68, Boehm got his first shot at playing in the big league when the Oakland Seals used him for 16 games where he had two goals and an assist. The team was made up of mostly leftovers from other NHL clubs and an assortment of minor-league stars, so the club found it hard to compete against the elite teams of the league.

Boehm skated for another seven years in the minors hoping to get another shot at the NHL, but it was not to be. He retired following the 1974-5 campaign having played for the Binghamton Dusters of the NAHL.
