Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gerry Brown
As a teenager, Gerry Brown played his minor hockey with the Edmonton Southsides beginning in 1933. After two years with the Southsides he advanced to the Senior League where he played two seasons with the Edmonton Dominions.

At the age of 20, Brown joined the Earl's Court Rangers of the British National League where he played for two years before joining the Cornwall Royals of the Quebec Senior Hockey League in 1939-40. IN 30 games he scored 16 goals and 31 points. The next year he played for both the Cornwall Flyers and the Montreal Concordia before playing 13 games in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings in 1941-42. Brown responded with four goals and four assists.

From 1942 until 1945, Brown was out of hockey, serving in the Canadian military during World War Two. Upon returning, he rejoined the Red Wings for ten games in 1945-46, which were the final games of his NHL career. Brown played the next two years with the Buffalo Bisons of the AHL and followed that up with a four-year stint in Hershey with the Bears. Brown retired from hockey after the 1952 season and focused his attention on coaching the Oshawa Generals of the OHA in 1952-53.

In 23 NHL games, Brown scored four goals and nine points over two years.
