Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Roy Burmister
Eighteen year old Roy Burmeister joined the Owen Sound Greys in 1924-25, and played 17 matches in the X-Games, scoring eight goals and 16 points, providing solid offensive leadership for the club. The team also played eight games en route to the Memorial Cup tournament in an attempt to defend their national amateur title, but the Greys came up short, losing to the Regina Pats.

Burmeister spent the next three years as a member of the Niagara Falls Cataracts before spending a year with the New Haven Eagles. In 1929-30, he was selected to play for the NHL's New York Americans. In 40 games, he scored a goal and an assist. The following year he was inserted into the Americans' lineup for eleven games, but he failed to record a point. Burmeister played another 16 games at the NHL level with New York and scored three goals and five points in 1931-32. In total, he played 67 NHL games, scoring four goals and seven points.

On February 12, 1933, Burmeister was traded by the Americans to the Boston Cubs of the Can-Am league for Connie King. In December of that year Boston sent him back to New York, this time to the Rangers, along with Vic Ripley for Babe Siebert. However, neither of the trades that year led to his playing any more games in the NHL. Burmeister continued to play in the minors until retiring after the 1938-39 season as a member of the Kansas City Greyhounds of the AHA.
