Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dave Campbell
Campbell played hockey during the NHL's earliest days, playing in Montreal for a number of years as a teen before joining the Canadaian army during World War I. After being discharged in 1918, he resumed his playing career in Montreal and Laval University, and midway through the 1920-21 season was signed by the Montreal Canadiens.

However, Campbell's time in the NHL was brief, lasting exactly two games. After this stint he was reinstated as an amateur and continued to play in Montreal for the rest of the decade, a brief time with Philadelphia in the Can-Am league the only experience outside the city.

Campbell retired in 1928 and became coach of the vaunted Montreal AAA, the club that had won the first Stanley Cup back in 1893.
