Red Conn was born on October 25, 1904 in Hartney, Manitoba. The left winger signed as a free agent with Regina of the PrHL in November of 1926 before being traded to Moose Jaw in exchange for Lawrence Rose on January 27, 1927.

In October of 1928, Red signed with the Portland Buckaroos of the PCHL, where he would become the club's all-time leader in games (105), goals (31) and points (44) during their three seasons in the PCHL from 1928 to 1931.

On April 19, 1931, Conn's time in Portland would come to an end; he was shipped to Boston in exchange for cash.

On September 30, 1937 he was again traded, this time to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Sam Godin.

Red Conn passed away Berkley, California on July 19, 1964.
