Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the 19th of February, 1929 Joe Crozier was in the 11th season of his hockey career when he finally made his NHL debut. Crozier, a defenseman, had 8 seasons on the Quebec Aces blueline under his belt, as well as stops San Francisco, Denver, Vancouver, Springfield and Providence before he began the 1959-60 campaign.

Crozier played 45 games with the Spokane Comets that year and 25 others with the Rochester Americans, but more importantly he played five games with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Crozier made the most of his opportunity chipping in three assists in him limited time with the Leafs.

Crozier spent one more season on the ice after his time in the NHL then left the game to serve as the coach of the Charlotte Checkers of the Eastern Hockey League. Crozier then moved on the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans for a highly successful six year run that saw him guide the club to their first Calder Cup Championship (and three victories overall) as well as five berths in the finals.

Crozier then took the reigns of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres following a heart attack to incumbent coach 'Punch' Imlach. Crozier coached the Sabres for two and a half seasons and also guided to the Toronto Maple Leafs for a half season in 1980-81.

Joe Crozier eventually returned to the Buffalo Sabres as a Special Consultant.
