Barry Cummins missed an entire year of his junior career with the Regina Pats due to injury. He was still able to work his way into the NHL by toiling for three years in the Western Hockey League and eventually becoming property of the California Golden Seals.

Cummins, born in Regina, Saskatchewan on New Year's Day, 1959, Cummins surfaced in the NHL during the 1973-74 season playing 36 games for the Golden Seals. The Defenseman managed a goal and two assists in that time while compiling 39 penalty minutes.

Cummins returned to the minors following his NHL time and played one final season of hockey in 1974-75 with the Springfield Indians then retired at year's end.
