Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gord Davidson
Defenseman Gord Davidson was born in Stratford, Ontario on August 15th, 1918 but played the first six years of his career playing Junior and Senior hockey in the province of Saskatchewan before he made the leap to professional hockey. In 1941 he started the second phase of his career when he left Senior hockey to join the Eastern Hockey League's New York Rovers and had an All-Star campaign in his first year of professional hockey. The following year he stayed in New York, but this time joined the Rangers.

With NHL rosters thinned out during wartime Gord Davidson was summoned to the Rangers and played 35 games. Davidson was able to score two goals and five points. He returned to the Rangers for a second season but by January of his second year with the Blueshirts Davidson was dealt to the Buffalo Bisons of the American Hockey League, thus ending his NHL career.

In 1944-45 Davidson played his first full season with the Bisons and was an AHL First Team All-Star for his efforts. Despite his solid play with the Bisons Davidson moved on the Cleveland Barons for the next four seasons but returned to the Bisons in 1949. Davidson's final season of his career came in 1950-51 when he joined the Springfield Indians. After posting five goals and 29 points in 54 games Davidson retired from hockey.
