Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jerome Dupont
Jerome Dupont was just 16 when he joined the ranks of major junior hockey in 1978 as a member of the OHL's Toronto Marlboros. He played in 68 games, scoring five goals and 21 assists. In 1979-80, his point total increased to 44 points. He was listed as a top prospect by the central scouting bureau and was taken ninth overall in the 1981 Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.

In 1981-82, Dupont dressed for 34 games with the Hawks. He picked up four assists and 51 penalty minutes. Dupont remained in a Blackhawks uniform for another four years, but management felt his progress had not reached the levels they had anticipated, and he left the Hawks after the 1986-87 season.

Dupont attempted to latch on with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the experiment ended after just 13 games in the 1986-87 season. However, it gave Dupont the distinction of having played for Harold Ballard at both the junior and professional level. In fact, Dupont was one of many players who landed in Ballard's doghouse on more than one occasion.
