Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Ron Harris
Ron Harris had two Memorial Cup tournaments to his credit before he made his first NHL appearance with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1962-1963 season. It was his first and only game for Detroit that season, but he did get his first NHL point. He followed it up with three more games in a Wings sweater the next season, before returning to the CPHL and WHL.

During the 1967-68 season he played for the Oakland Seals of the NHL after they claimed him in the Expansion Draft of 1967. The end of that season saw Harris going back to Detroit as part of trade. He played full time for the Red Wings for the next four years, posting an NHL career-high 21 points during the 1969-70 season. The Atlanta Flames claimed him during the 1972 Expansion Draft. After 24 games with Atlanta, he was traded to the New York Rangers for Curt Bennett. He made Madison Square Garden his professional home until October 1975 when he suffered a career-ending knee injury in a game against the New York Islanders.
