Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Randy Heath
Left-winger Randy Heath played a few games with the New York Rangers in the mid-80s. He was a dangerous offensive player in junior, the minors and Europe and was capable of handling the rough going.

The Vancouver native starred with the BCJHL's Vancouver Blue Hawks before moving on to the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL in 1981-82. He was drafted 33rd overall by the New York Rangers in 1983 after scoring 82 goals and helping his club win the Memorial Cup. Heath was a part of history since Portland was the first American-based club to win the most prestigious team honour in Canadian junior hockey.

After attending his first NHL training camp in September, 1983, the young forward was returned to the Winter Hawks where he was a veteran on a rebuilding team. He also scored nine points in seven games for Canada at the World Junior Championships. Heath played briefly for the Rangers in 1984-85 but was chiefly a farmhand with the New Haven Nighthawks of the AHL for two years. In 1986-87 he played with the Skelleftea club of Sweden then spent two years with Vasteras IK before retiring in 1989.
