Defenceman Peter Helander played seven games with the LA Kings in 1982-83 when he was at the end of his pro career. Prior to this he was a consistent performer in the Swedish Elite league and on the national team.

The Stockholm native spent eight years anchoring the blueline for the Skelleftea AIK club from 1975 to 1982. In 1978 he was one of the team's top performers when they won the national championship. He also represented Sweden at the World Championships in 1981 and 1982 as well as the second Canada Cup in 1981.The steady blueliner was chosen 153rd overall by LA in 1982 and played a handful of games for the Kings and the New Haven Nighthawks of the AHL before retiring.
