Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Henry Hicks
Defenceman Harold "Hal" Hicks spent parts of three seasons in the NHL during the 20s and 30s. He was a decent goal scorer who could handle the physical side of the game despite being only 5'7".

Born in Sillery, on the outskirts of Quebec City, Hicks spent two years with the senior Ottawa Rideaus before joining the Stratford Nationals of the Can-Pro League in 1926-27. After leading the Nationals to a first place finish and a playoff title in 1927-28, Hicks played a full season with the Montreal Maroons.

With the emergence of Archie Wilcox and Dunc Munro on the Maroons' defence the next season, Hicks was traded to the Detroit Cougars. He played well in 30 games for his new club and remained with them when they became the Falcons in 1930-31. Hicks split that season between the NHL and the London Tecumsehs of the IAHL. The hard working defender spent three more years in London and notched a career high nine goals in 1932-33. He retired 15 games into the 1933-34 season.
